Notecard | Anzac Memorial
The Anzac Memorial was designed by Charles Bruce Dellit, who was awarded one of the of the most prestigious architectural competitions of the day. The building opened to the public in 1934.
This watercolour elevation was drawn by C. Bruce Dellit and shows his vision for the memorial building, which he designed in the popular and modern art deco style, to be a place of silent contemplation.
Dellit designed the Anzac Memorial, not to reflect the "glory nor the glamour of war", but as an expression of "those nobler attributes of human nature which the great tragedy of nations so vividly brought forth - "Courage, Endurance and Sacrifice".
